In this powerful episode of Healing Women of Color, we uncover the difference between real loyalty and fake loyalty. Using the story of Judas and Jesus, we explore how someone can be close to you, have access to you, and still not be loyal to you. Presence is not proof of loyalty. Chemistry is not proof of loyalty. History is not proof of loyalty. Real loyalty is revealed under pressure, not convenience. Together, we’ll discuss how emotional boundaries and spiritual discernment work hand in hand to help you recognize unhealthy patterns, stop confusing access with alignment, and protect your heart from people who repeatedly show inconsistent character. This episode is for anyone who has been hurt by betrayal, disappointed by conditional relationships, or grieving people they thought were solid. You’ll learn how to trust patterns over promises, strengthen your discernment, and release relationships that were never built on genuine loyalty. -This season, we’re choosing clarity over confusion. -This season, we’re honoring what people repeatedly show us. -This season, we’re letting fake loyalty lose access. Because sometimes the pain isn’t that they changed—it’s that you finally saw what was always there. You are rare. You are valuable. You are becoming.
EPISODE 6: THE TRUTH ABOUT FAKE LOYALTY
Emotional Boundaries Meets Spiritual Discernment
[INTRO MUSIC FADES IN]
Hello beautiful people, and welcome back to Healing Women of Color, the podcast where healing meets wisdom, where faith meets growth, and where we learn how to protect our hearts without losing our softness.
I am so grateful you’re here today.
Whether you’re listening on your way to work, cleaning your home, taking a walk, or sitting quietly with a cup of coffee, I want you to know that this conversation was on my heart for a reason.
Because somebody listening today has been grieving a relationship, a friendship, a family connection, or a situation that didn’t end the way you expected.
And the truth is…
Sometimes what hurts the most isn’t losing someone.
It’s realizing they were never who you believed they were.
Today’s episode is called:
“The Truth About Fake Loyalty.”
And whew…
We’re going to talk about some things.
We’re going to talk about discernment.
We’re going to talk about emotional boundaries.
We’re going to talk about patterns.
And we’re going to talk about one of the most painful realities many women face:
Being loyal to people who were never loyal to them.
[PAUSE]
When I think about fake loyalty, my mind immediately goes to Judas.
Not because Judas was an obvious enemy.
Not because Judas was standing on the outside.
But because Judas was close.
Judas walked with Jesus.
Ate with Jesus.
Learned from Jesus.
Witnessed miracles.
Had access to Jesus.
And yet he betrayed Him.
Let that sink in.
Judas wasn’t a stranger.
He was close.
And that’s the lesson.
Because sometimes we think closeness equals loyalty.
We think history equals loyalty.
We think access equals loyalty.
But the story of Judas teaches us something powerful:
Access does not equal alignment.
Presence does not equal loyalty.
And proximity does not guarantee faithfulness.
Some of the deepest betrayals in life come from people who sat at your table.
People who knew your heart.
People who knew your struggles.
People who knew your story.
Yet when pressure came, their character couldn’t support the weight of loyalty.
[TRANSITION]
Let’s talk about the first truth.
POINT ONE:
PRESENCE IS NOT PROOF OF LOYALTY
One of the biggest mistakes many of us make is assuming that because someone is around, they are for us.
They’re always there.
They’re always calling.
They’re always texting.
They’re always showing up.
But loyalty isn’t measured by who shows up when things are easy.
Loyalty is revealed when things become difficult.
When standing with you costs something.
When supporting you is inconvenient.
When defending you isn’t popular.
That’s when character is exposed.
Anybody can stand beside you during sunshine.
Real loyalty is revealed during storms.
[PAUSE]
POINT TWO:
PATTERNS SPEAK LOUDER THAN PROMISES
One thing I have learned is this:
People can fool you with words.
They can impress you with charm.
They can reassure you with emotional speeches.
But patterns don’t lie.
Patterns reveal priorities.
Patterns reveal intentions.
Patterns reveal character.
A person may call themselves loyal.
But what do they repeatedly do?
A person may call themselves faithful.
But what does their behavior consistently demonstrate?
Discernment pays attention to repetition.
Because what a person repeatedly does is who they are choosing to be.
[Continue naturally into the remaining points…]
POINT THREE:
CLOSENESS DOES NOT EQUAL LOYALTY
POINT FOUR:
FAKE LOYALTY HAS CONDITIONS
POINT FIVE:
STOP GRIEVING WHO YOU THOUGHT THEY WERE
POINT SIX:
EMOTIONAL BOUNDARIES MEET SPIRITUAL DISCERNMENT
POINT SEVEN:
LET FAKE LOYALTY LOSE ACCESS
[EMPOWERMENT SEGMENT]
And now I want to speak directly to the women listening.
Woman of God…
This season your discernment is getting stronger.
This season your standards are rising.
This season you are no longer calling bare minimum behavior loyalty.
This season you are trusting patterns more than promises.
This season you are honoring your peace.
This season you are protecting your heart.
This season you are no longer shrinking yourself to keep people comfortable.
You are rare.
You are valuable.
You are worthy of consistency.
You are worthy of honesty.
You are worthy of healthy relationships.
You are worthy of reciprocal effort.
You are becoming a woman who can recognize the difference between attention and loyalty.
You are becoming a woman who values alignment over attachment.
You are becoming a woman who trusts God’s wisdom more than emotional confusion.
You are becoming.
And that’s a beautiful thing.
[OUTRO]
As we close today’s episode, I want you to remember something.
Jesus was betrayed by Judas.
But Judas’s betrayal did not stop Jesus’s purpose.
And the betrayal you’ve experienced will not stop yours.
Their inconsistency is not a reflection of your worth.
Their lack of loyalty is not proof that loyalty doesn’t exist.
Their character flaws are not your identity.
God will always expose what cannot accompany you into your next season.
So stop begging inconsistent people to become consistent.
Stop negotiating with patterns that continue to hurt you.
Stop questioning your standards because someone else couldn’t meet them.
Honor the pattern.
Trust discernment.
Protect your heart.
And let fake loyalty lose access.
Because sometimes the pain isn’t that they changed.
Sometimes the pain is that you finally saw what was always there.
And now that you see it, you can heal.
You can grow.
You can move differently.
And you can choose differently.
I declare by faith that this year you will stop giving the real you to what was never real with you.
You are rare.
You are powerful.
You are becoming.
And your next level requires discernment.
Until next time, take care of yourselves, protect your peace, and keep healing.
